Carey Nutman Resurrection?
Cat. No: MPSCD018
This CD album is a collection of some of my more serious works from
2001 to 2006.
RESURRECTION? (track 10)
This piece was composed between August 2000 and March 2001. The text
used is a translation of the Klopstock/Mahler Resurrection Hymn that Mahler used in his 2nd symphony.
The reader is Barry Lewis (composer, writer and lecturer in English
literature). The piece was composed almost entirely using Audiosculpt software running on an Apple Macintosh computer at Durham University music department.
The following software/hardware was also used at my home studio:
CDP program Grain-Mill, Fast Eddie and Sound Forge, all running on a
Pentium pc. Korg MS2000 synthesiser (for vocoder effects), DACS FREQue (for ring modulation), Yamaha EMP100 digital delay, Korg SDD-2000 digital delay, Alesis Midiverb II.
“Resurrection?” was first performed at a public concert on Wednesday
1st May 2002, Elvet Methodist Church, Durham, (University of Durham Concert Series “MUSICON”).
Thanks to Andy Forsyth, Barry Lewis, Peter Manning, Archer Endrich,
Geoff Nossiter, Michael Clarke and Rasmus Ekman.
Carey Nutman, October 2008.
