route

Route was originally composed for a multimedia performance which incorporated music , dance and multiple video projection. The aim of the original stage production was to develop and film choreographic sequences and physical events in extreme environmental conditions in order to explore the visceral connection between the body and the psyche, the real landscape and the contrived 'imaginal' environment of the stage. The musical score was developed from sounds sampled on location in the Yorkshire Pennines, in peat bogs, stream beds and copses. This raw material was then heavily manipulated using a variety of electro-acoustic processes including FM re-synthesis and acousmatic techniques to obtain a textural 'earthiness', resulting in a broad acoustic landscape intertwining electronic and rich organic events .
